Manchester United: Dan Ashworth exit ‘not best situation’ but club vision clear – Ruben Amorim

There are reports that Manchester United must sell players to strengthen squad in the January transfer window.

Asked if that was the case, Amorim said: “No, I’m really focused on (managing) seeing my players and getting to know my players. I think that’s one of the problems at the club.

“We have to focus on what we have. We have to focus on the academy and also have a clear image when you get the players, so you have to manage a lot of details.

“You can see it with the set pieces and sometimes you look at our team and we are a small team compared to other teams.

“Every detail is important and we must first be very clear in the documentation, arrange all the processes, and then enter the stage of buying and selling players.”

Some players are still adjusting to the club’s signing of Amorim’s predecessor Erik ten Hag in the summer, while Dutch left-back Terrell Marascia is just recovering from knee surgery, which will keep him out since 2023 First Premier League start since May.

“We have international players like Tai, good players and we need time to teach them our ideas and then we will see because this is a huge club,” Amorim added.

“There are a lot of things we have to arrange at the club before we can think about buying or selling players.

“There’s still a lot to do, so let’s focus on improving our players, improving our academy and then we’ll see.”
