NFL: Cincinnati Bengals capitalise on late Dallas Cowboys error to clinch late win
The Cincinnati Bengals took advantage of a late turnover by the Dallas Cowboys to snap a three-game losing streak in the NFL and win 27-20 on Monday in Texas.
The Cowboys made it 20-20 with less than two minutes left in the game, but Amani Oruwariye touched the ball and scored it, which was recovered by the Bengals.
Three plays later, quarterback Joe Burrow found receiver Ja’Marr Chase for a 40-yard touchdown to win the game.
Cincinnati held off the Cowboys’ final drive, halting Dallas’ three-game winning streak.
The win improved Cincinnati’s record to 5-8 and mathematically still puts them in contention for a play-in spot, although that’s unlikely as they’ll need other results to reach their goal.
“We needed a break. We didn’t get a lot of rest this year. It’s nice to get this opportunity and it’s nice to end this game with a win,” Burrow said.
The Cowboys are missing key quarterback Dak Prescott due to injury and are currently 5-8 with little hope of advancing to the playoffs.
