Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton: 5 Live team review F1 season and look ahead to 2025
HB: An absolute world championship brawl. Most teams are now at the ceiling of upgrading their current generation cars. We have a natural convergence when it comes to prioritization as there will be no major regulatory changes next year, 2026 is coming. So I’d like to see an eight-driver combination – two drivers from McLaren, Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes fighting for the title, along with the usual midfield chaos.
Japan: A driver’s battle continued right down to the last minute, with the hope that more than two drivers would still be in contention.
AB: A four-way title race between McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes.
Forward: I would like to see more people challenge for the title. It’s great that we’ve had seven different winners this season, but wouldn’t it be great if more than two drivers were in a constant battle for F1’s ultimate prize. I would also like to see fewer team orders. Obviously teams do this to protect themselves in the constructors’ championship, but sometimes this leaves fans of the sport and even other drivers wanting a purer race.
SB: McLaren is again fighting for the Constructors’ Championship, Lando Norris is fighting for the World Drivers’ Championship and Lewis Hamilton is fast and happy in his red Ferrari.
MP: Please provide more of the same. I’d like to see teams like McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull all get going and start the season from where they left off in 2024, which is very, very close. If that happens, we could win the 2025 championship and it could go down in history as one of the greatest teams.
