Gregor Townsend’s Scotland to face New Zealand Maori in July
The Scotland men’s team will take on the New Zealand Maori team for the first time in 25 years as part of a summer tour.
Gregor Townsend’s side will play at Semenoff Stadium in Whangarei on July 5.
In 2000, the New Zealand Maori team defeated Ian McGeechan’s side 18-15 in New Plymouth. The two teams had previously met for the first time in Edinburgh in 1998, with the visitors winning 24-8.
After the tournament in early July, Townsend’s Scotland team will play two Test matches in the Pacific Islands on a yet-to-be-determined schedule.
Townsend said: “Next year’s tour is an opportunity to play against two high-level Test teams in the Pacific Islands, which is always a unique tour for our players to experience on and off the field.”
