Mikel Arteta: Arsenal boss wants Gunners to be ‘kings at everything’
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he wants his side to be “the kings of everything” after the Gunners were highly praised for their set-piece prowess this week.
Arsenal scored two goals from corner kicks In the 2-0 win over Manchester United Wednesday.
The goals take Arsenal’s tally from corners this season to 22, five more than any other team in Europe’s top five leagues.
After the game, former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur striker Berbatov tagged Arsenal “New Stoke City” – In the 10 years of the Premier League from 2008 to 2018, this team performed well at set pieces.
Speaking on Friday, Arteta said he took Berbatov’s words as a “huge compliment” but urged his side to dominate every aspect of football.
“We want to be the king of everything,” he said.
“The best in the world at set-pieces; the best in the world at high pressing; the best in the world when attacking in the open space. Best atmosphere and stadium – everything is the best.”
“Before this, we didn’t score enough, we didn’t challenge, we didn’t win a big game in 20 years. We want to be the best in everything.”
Arsenal have won four games in a row and are seven points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.
They travel to Fulham on Sunday with defenders Gabriel and Ricardo Calafiore fit after missing Wednesday’s win.
