A touring British indie rock band claims they lost their personal belongings when armed robbers attacked their van while they were drinking coffee at a Starbucks in Vallejo, California, on Tuesday morning on the first day of their U.S. tour. equipment.

“Robbery at gunpoint just 10 minutes into US tour,” the text in the video reads. “Stopped for coffee. Someone ran in and said someone had hit a van. Ran outside and tried to stop it and found masked men ransacking the van. Started yelling and they had guns drawn.”

In the video, one of the van robbers can be seen brandishing a gun, reportedly at the tour manager. Two members of the band’s touring party then ran back to the Starbucks while people inside the coffee shop could be heard instructing people to stay inside. In addition to swearing, the victims mentioned items they saw taken, including bags and laptops.

The band were due to kick off their US tour at San Francisco’s Kilowatt on Monday night, but flights out of the UK were canceled, resulting in the show being cancelled. While the post tried to appear somewhat light-hearted, the band seemed shocked and shaken by what had happened to them.

“It’s honestly shocking how resigned everyone seems to be to this. ‘This actually happens,'” the post concluded. “At 9 a.m. in a gas station Starbucks somewhere. Wild.”
