The Best Keyboard I’ve Ever Owned Is Over 20% Off for Black Friday
Back in 2012, Logitech managed to build me the perfect keyboard that ticked all the boxes I needed. K810 It is a compact TKL wireless keyboard with Bluetooth and backlight functionality. Those are two boxes that wouldn’t be difficult to tick today, but they were at the time. Best of all, I love that I can seamlessly switch the keyboard to another device with just the press of a key.
The K810’s biggest drawback is probably the keyboard’s build quality – it’s not bad, but it doesn’t feel very solid. While I loved this keyboard, it became increasingly difficult to find, and Logitech eventually discontinued it in 2019. I’m not the only one who misses it. You can find tons of Reddit posts looking for alternatives or request Logitech Re-release K810. I find myself buying used or refurbished K810s from eBay because Logitech doesn’t make a suitable replacement.
That finally changed in 2021.
this Logitech MX Keys Mini It’s pretty much everything any K810 owner could want in a successor: the same compact design, backlit keys for more comfortable typing, easy switching to other devices, a much-needed USB C charging upgrade, and absolutely solid build quality like Apple’s own (and Awesome) Magic Keyboard. Best of all, it’s priced at black friday.

Why I love the Logitech MX Keys Mini keyboard
The MX Keys Mini has a lot going for it. The backlit keys automatically turn off when I’m not using the keyboard, and turn on when my hands are near the keyboard. Its ambient light sensor automatically adjusted the brightness of the keys based on my current lighting conditions, although I could also adjust it manually. The keys themselves have a slightly concave surface, so typing feels great. I love this keyboard so much that I have two.
I also like the battery life. Logitech’s website claims that the Keys Mini can last up to 10 days on a charge and five months with the backlight turned off. This seems to understate it. Even with daily use, I don’t find myself charging the keyboard more than once a month.
The top row of keys has some standard and not-so-standard functions. The expected multimedia, volume, esc and del keys are all present, as well as three simple toggle buttons for changing the Bluetooth connection to another device I’ve paired with, and a backlit intensity key. The keyboard has a useful dedicated dictation key, a microphone mute/unmute key, and an emoji key for opening emoji windows for supported apps. While I can’t say I’ve ever used an emoji key, I like the idea that enough typists wanted something like this and that Logitech included it.
Both are priced at $99 Windows and MacOS optionsFor those who want a solid typing experience in a compact and powerful package, the Logitech MX Keys Mini is easily my top recommendation. It’s also high on our list The best keyboards of 2024. If you prefer the full keyboard experience, Logitech offers MX Keys S with dedicated numeric keypad.
