Frank Lampard: Coventry City appoint ex-England midfielder
Former Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard has been appointed manager of Championship club Coventry City on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Lampard, 46, takes over a team that is 17th in the Championship table, two points above the relegation zone.
He succeeds long-serving Mark Robins. sacked after seven years at the helm Earlier this month it became Sky Blues owner Doug King’s first new appointment since the takeover was completed in January 2023.
The Coventry job will be Lampard’s fifth in management after two spells at Derby County, Everton and Chelsea.
Since his tenure as interim head coach at Stamford Bridge ended in May 2023, he has mainly worked in the media.
Lampard’s first game in charge of the Sky Blues will be at home to Cardiff City on Saturday.
