Mohamed Salah contract: Liverpool forward not distracted by contract talks – Slot

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is not distracted by contract talks and speculation about his future, head coach Arne Slott says.

Salah’s current contract expires at the end of the season, he told reporters He was “disappointed” Not getting new deals and “probably more outs than ins.”

“The only thing I can say is, if I look at my lineup, Mo is in more than he’s out,” Slaughter said.

“I don’t think he was distracted at all. I didn’t see him make some comments after the Manchester United game (in September), I didn’t see it after the post you told me about, he just kept scoring.

“If you were at Axa (the training ground) today, I don’t think any of the players were talking about it, at least not when I was there.”

The 32-year-old is Liverpool’s top scorer this season with 12 goals in all competitions and he scored twice in Sunday’s victory over Southampton to help the Reds move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table point.

The Merseyside club face Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday before hosting Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.

Slaughter added: “The players are focused on the short term, that’s Madrid, that’s Manchester City.

“There’s no distractions for him, for the players, and definitely not for me.”

In addition to Salah, defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and club captain Virgil van Dijk are also out of contract at the end of the season.

A club source told BBC Sport that contacts between Liverpool and Salah’s agent Rami Abbas Issa are ongoing and have been positive.
