Girl, 8, seriously injured in Ladbroke Grove double shooting
British Broadcasting CorporationThe Metropolitan Police said an eight-year-old girl and a man were seriously injured in the shooting.
Two people were taken to hospital after a shooting on Southern Row in Ladbroke Grove at around 17:30 GMT on Sunday.
The girl is in stable condition and her life is not in danger. The condition of the 34-year-old man is unknown, while a 32-year-old woman was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
Sergeant Owen Raynorden called it “a shocking incident” and the leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council said it was “incredible that a child has once again been caught in the crossfire of violence on the streets of London”.
The London Ambulance Service said ambulances arrived at the scene within six minutes and treated both patients “before sending them to a large trauma center on a priority basis”.
Scotland Yard said no arrests had been made and investigations were ongoing.
Detective Sergeant Raynordon said detectives would like to hear from anyone with any information, “however trivial”, about what happened.
‘Senseless violence’
Kensington and Bayswater MP Joe Powell said he was “shocked by the shooting”.
He said: “There will be no place for these senseless acts of violence on our streets.
“I know residents in the local community will certainly be concerned for their safety following several recent incidents in the area.
“We must work together to better prevent these horrific crimes from occurring and hold those responsible accountable.”
