Travelers died from suspected methanol poisoning in Laos Global | News Avenue

According to CNBC’s Monica Pitrelli, about 14 people fell ill after spending the night in Vang Vieng around November 12. Methanol is cheaper than ethanol, the alcohol commonly found in beer, wine and spirits. Odorless and colorless, drinking 30 ml of methanol (less than the standard dose) can be fatal. According to Doctors Without Borders, most incidents occurred in Asia.
