Dame Laura Kenny will guest edit Channel 4’s Today program over the Christmas period, the BBC has announced.

The British cyclist is one of six editors on the news program over the festive period.

Current Children’s Laureate author Frank Cottrell Boyce, former chancellor Sir Sajid Javid and TV presenter Baroness Floera Benjamin will also take the reins.

This year’s line-up consists of adventurer and presenter Dwayne Fields and neuroscientist and Oxford University Vice-Chancellor Irene Tracey.

For more than two decades, Radio 4 has guest edited public figures every year over Christmas and New Year.

Previous guest editors include Angelina Jolie, Stephen Hawking, Bono, Margaret Atwood, David Hockney, Raheem Sterling, Greta Thunberg , Carey Mulligan, Jamie Oliver and Ellie Goulding.

Frank Cottrell-BoyceThe program, which airs on Christmas Eve, will explore the role reading plays in shaping children’s lives and look at what happens to children’s brains when they read.

Boxing Day will see Dwayne Fields Edit a plan containing items about homelessness and the value of volunteering to the community.

Sir Sajid JavidThe program on December 27 will include a project on the benefits and risks of artificial intelligence (AI) and BBC children’s program Grange Hill.

professor Erin TracyOn the Dec. 28 show, she will discuss advances in alleviating chronic pain and the role universities play in society.

The quality of children’s television, including a review of the move away from public service broadcasters and towards unregulated online platforms, will be among the topics explored on December 30 Baroness Floella Benjamin.

and Mrs Laura KennyIn a New Year’s Eve programme, Britain’s most decorated female Olympian will explore the impact of elite sport on women’s bodies, including a focus on fertility issues and the provision of PE in schools.

Today editor Owenna Griffiths said: “Every year I look forward to guest editors bringing fresh ideas, hidden stories and unexpected perspectives to Today.
