IPL 2025 auction: Rishabh Pant becomes most expensive player in tournament’s history

Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League after being signed by Lucknow Supergiants for Rs 270 million (£2.54 million) at a mega auction in Saudi Arabia.

The 27-year-old Indian wicketkeeper is the subject of a bidding war between the Supergiants and his former club Delhi Capitals.

Gasp, who? Returning to action in this year’s IPL Shreyas Iyer broke the record set earlier in the day when Shreyas Iyer was signed by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 267.5 crore (£2.51 million) after a 14-month layoff due to a car accident.
