Luke Littler and Luke Humphries into last eight of Players Championship
Luke Littler continued his impressive form to reach the quarter-finals of the Minehead Players Championship with a 10-3 win over Danny Noppert. He is joined by world number one Luke Humphries.
In Saturday afternoon’s match, 17-year-old Littler defeated Richie Edhaus 6-2 in the second round before returning to see off Noppert with ease.
Littler, who scored seven 180s and averaged 104.70 with a highest dismissal of 129 against Norpert, will face Mike Dedecker in the next round.
“When I’m having these little outbursts, I feel like no one can touch me,” Littler said.
Humphreys defeated Raymond van Barneveld 6-3 in the afternoon session before defeating Damon Hertha 10-6.
The defending champion was not at his best when beating Heta, averaging 96.98 points with a highest checkout of 104.
“There’s been a lot of visits where I feel like I can give more,” said Humphries, who will face Ryan Joyce in the quarterfinals.
“140 degrees is so much, 180 degrees isn’t enough. I’m trying to keep up with Luke and try to play at a good level.
“In the end I won and that’s all that matters. It gets me into Sunday and I can go again.”
If Littler and Humphries continue to improve, they will meet in the finals.
“Luke is playing some absolutely amazing darts at the moment,” Humphreys said.
“He’s probably the best player in the world at the moment but I know I have the quality to match it.”
