Somalia: Statement by the Spokesperson on the latest terrorist attack on the Presidential convoy
The EU strongly condemns yesterday’s terrorist attack in Mogadishu, which targets the convoy of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the Federal Republic of Somalia. We are frustrated by this outrageous behavior, taking the lives of innocent civilians.
The EU praised President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who had arrived at the front line to support the Somali National Army in fighting Al-Shabaab.
The EU and Somalia share a close partnership, especially under the EU-Samili Joint Action Roadmap. The EU remains a staunch supporter of Somalia’s country-building process, including in the security sector.
The EU has reaffirmed its firm commitment to the Somalia federal government in its fight against Al Shabaab and other terrorist groups.
