Josh Lynch: Warrington Wolves winger banned for 16 months after drugs test
Warrington Wolves winger Josh Lynch is banned from using banned substances.
The 21-year-old was tested by the British Anti-Doping (UKAD) in a training course in December 2023, and the sample returned the growth hormone ibutamoren of the “Unbeat Analysis Discovery” (AAF) (AAF), which was banned during exercise.
Lynch has failed after Lynch implemented a temporary suspension at UKAD in February 2024.
His ban will include the time he spends off the court, meaning he will now choose from June.
After Lynch accepted the temporary suspension, he violated anti-doping rules but hoped to challenge his sanctions because he deliberately or intentionally used ibutamoren.
Ukde then charged Lynch and responded that he had accidentally ingested the substance, and he prepared a protein shake with a stirrer. He added that a friend had used a blender to prepare his own protein shake that contained ibutamoren.
After they directed scientific experts to analyze Lynch’s account, they concluded that the explanation was reasonable, saying that if he was a regular user of the substance, it would appear in other samples in January 2024.
The matter was forwarded to a hearing held by the Independent National Anti-Doping Group (NADP) in December 2024, during which time Lynch and his friends provided evidence and were cross-examined by UKAD.
NADP accepted Lynch’s account in a decision issued in January and ruled that he had no intention of acting, imposing a 16-month ban.
