Women’s Six Nations 2025: Team guide – who can stop England winning title?
Andy Burke of BBC Scotland:
“There is a certain feeling that this is the progress of the Scottish team, and their ambitions have been lifted accordingly.
“England and France’s large guns will almost certainly take the top two, so Scotland’s goal is to finish third, which has been managed only twice in the history of the Six Women’s Kingdoms, most recently in 2005.
“Scotland has finished fourth in both past campaigns. They finished the table in eight of eight of the previous 12 six countries, so there is clear evidence that the team has become more competitive.
“Welsh, Ireland and Italy are all at similar levels to Scotland and given that they hosted these three people this time in Edinburgh, there is a chance to enjoy a very active campaign that can serve as a springboard for the Rugby World Cup.
“The experienced heads of Captain Rachel Malcolm, Jade Konkel, Chloe Rollie and Lisa Thomson are still key figures, but in previous teams they will be asked to drag some smaller lights with them, while the dawn of professionalism in Scottish women’s games begins, Scottish faces have begun to endure fruit and are ready in squesd for preparation in Squad.
“Francesca McGhie, 21, brings pace and ending power to the exciting back, which already has international performers like Rollie and Rhona Lloyd.
“Alex Stewart, the back row, was a breakthrough star in Scotland in last year’s tournament, when the 19-year-old showed up some advantage displays to mark her not only as a star of the future, but as one of the present and present.
“In this Scottish team, there seems to be great young people and experience, and if they can generate some valuable momentum in these six countries, then they may have a big year.”
