Greece v Scotland: Andy Robertson chasing Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish’s caps record
Robertson’s fourth international goal came in November’s shutdown against Poland, winning a 2-1 victory in Warsaw and finishing third in the National League A1.
Now, Scotland must prevail over Greece to stay at the highest level of the game.
According to the captain, the team made “huge progress” in the A race in the first game, amassing seven points in the last three games after losing the first three games.
“The National League is important to us, and the goal is always to get into Group A,” Robertson said. “Then we saw the rewards when we held our own matches against Portugal and Croatia.
“After the euro, there are a lot of negative impacts.
“There’s a lot of conversation around’ Is this the end of this squad?’ But I think we’re bounced well.”
Greece trails England’s runner-up in the goal difference in its B-class team, at 39th and 39th in Scotland.
“They are a very good team at home and don’t admit many goals,” Robertson said. “It will be difficult, but we believe we can give anyone a game.”
Has not faced Greece since Europe’s 96 euros, Scotland will meet them again later this year in the World Cup qualifying match.
The teams that were beaten in the National League quarterfinals between Belarus and Portugal and Denmark were other opponents, with the match starting in September and ending in November.
Scotland has not participated in the World Cup since Robertson was four in 1998.
He said: “You look at the group and think ‘Can we compete?’ Yes, that’s sure, but it’s going to be tough.
“Hopefully we are all healthy and we can give it a right shot. The game will be the final in the World Cup.”
