10 Things to Know Before Starting Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The Assassin’s Creed Shadow is shaping, one of the most interesting and exciting parts of the franchise’s revitalization in 2017. We previewed the game on Gamescom last year and finally got it done a few months ago. After countless delays, I’m happy to finally play the full build, which is definitely worth the wait.

At this point, I spent more than ten hours on the shadows on both PCs (by Nvidia’s Geforce is now streaming platform) and Xbox. Here are some tips to help you prepare for your entry into Japanese feudalism.

Exploration is the key

Shadow emphasizes exploring above. One of the first choices you will make when starting the game is whether you want the guide to provide logos for each object, or the more immersive direction to participate in the game. The game defaults to only give you blurred directions and locations that hint at the next mission target. This will increase the attention of the game to explore the environment you are doing. Finding new locations will give you additional experience points and will often lead to other side quests, random enemy encounters, hidden graves and more. You’ll even find a complete cut scene that fleshes out the character’s backstory, so explore as much as possible.

Use temples to stock up on knowledge points

The temple is one of the most useful extracurricular activities. Each of these offers a different bonus, but the knowledge point is the best reward. For example, many temples will require you to find three hidden reels on their ground (or trees/roofs on trees/roofs). Knowledge points accumulate in your mastery menu and unlock levels to advance through the various skill trees of more characters (you can then spend mastery points to unlock new abilities).

Don’t buy equipment

Assassin’s Creed game sometimes brings players a lot of different loot (Odyssey) and sometimes offers more limited options (Valhalla), but the shadow has been restored to the effect of new weapons and armor. Therefore, it is not worth buying new gear from any supplier. While you will always see statistics for sale, you will soon discover new loot that these statistics will quickly become obsolete. Unless you find something that you really like design, stick to finding new gear from your chest and enemies.

Pathfinder may not show the shortest route

Pathfinder shows you an easy way to your goal, but you may be able to cut corners.

When tracking a task or location, you can open Pathfinder left and right on the D-pad. This will cause a white line in the game, pulsating and directing you to that waypoint. (Your horse won’t follow this path automatically like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.)

While this guide is useful for guiding you, the line will often be pasted on roads and obvious roads, meaning it is not necessarily the shortest route for a crow to fly. You may find shortcuts and faster routes by driving directly to the elevated compass. Meanwhile, not all geography can be easily passed by, and taking the route may take you to the forest so your horse cannot continue on, or the cliff’s face is too steep to climb. So if you’re completely lost, Pathfinder will be more helpful.

Pray and offer in the shrine

There are a large number of shrines in the world that do not appear on maps or compass. Usually, when you travel from point to point you will find them along the road. It’s worth stopping to check them out, usually giving you a quick prayer or a dedication (not actually taking anything from you). Doing so will reward players with various small incentives such as experience points, timed improvements in statistics such as puncture stimulation or plus resources like adrenaline (allowing you to use combat abilities).

Dogs (and cats)

Do you really need a reason?

Many stray dogs and cats are walking around towns and villages, and you can pamper them. Early in the shadows, you can unlock operational bases for your team, where you can customize the buildings and layouts, thus bringing more benefits to your character. Part of aesthetic customization is any animal you pampered so far. See a dog that looks different from the one you used to interact with? It can be unlocked and placed in your base. Once, when I stroked a cat, my character said, “I’m going to take you home.” Did I just steal someone else’s cat?

Stuck while exchanging characters

Even if you introduce the protagonists Naoe and Yasuke in the first hour of the game, you don’t actually play a lot of Yasuke for a long time. During the game, I didn’t really unlock Yasuke until about 10 hours of using Naoe. The introduction sequence is very cool when unlocking Yasuke, but be prepared to wait for the second character.

However, one great thing to know is that after fully unlocking Yasuke, you can seamlessly swap both. Unlike Grand Theft Auto 5’s multi-popularist approach, you’ll bend where each character is in each character, while Naoe and Yasuke will spawn in the same place. Hit the tower that Yasuke cannot climb? The quick exchange means Naoe will be in the same location and ready to expand.

Scout Contract

One of the main mechanisms in the shadow is to use scouts to investigate specific areas on the map, revealing points of interest, and even revealing the mission objectives for you. You can also unlock bases in many towns in the game, where you can replenish the amount of scouts used. Another feature here is the scout contract, which will automatically be generated as you play the game. They are not the most interesting in mission design, from assassinating specific targets to destroying heavily guard objects. However, they do provide a lot of experience and resources (for upgrading your base). While they aren’t the best quests in the game, they’re definitely worth doing if you’re going to polish XP.

Attack the fortress at night

If you prioritize the secret method of the game, then night is your best friend. Naoe does his best in the darkness, and you can usually put out the light source to hide further. Many enemies fall asleep while on duty at night, making it easier to sneak in. If you have a huge dangerous fortress ahead of you, wait until after dark. Before the release, Ubisoft Assertion that weather effects such as rain can also help your penetrationbut in fact, the benefits are small compared to the huge advantage of night sneaking.

First improve assassination skills

Nao will become stronger when she doesn’t remind the enemy. Taking the opponent from the shadow and assassinating without being discovered is the key to using her. This makes her assassination skill tree very useful, where you should pay for your skill points first. Any skill that increases the amount of assassination losses will allow you to eliminate stronger opponents without fighting. Double assassination tricks are also very useful, as enemies will usually pile up together and you can eliminate them more easily.

Assassin’s Creed Shadow is available on Xbox, PS5 and PC on March 20.
