Six Nations: Mauvaka cited for yellow card challenge on White
French Hooker Mauvaka was quoted for a foul game after a challenge at Ben White in Paris on Saturday at Ben White in Scotland.
The hosts beat their top six national champions since 2022 with a 35-16 victory at Stade de France.
But Mauvaka escaped with a yellow card after many nervous 20 minutes in the first half.
“The decision not to raise it to the red card was because there was no too much force,” Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend said after the game. “I’m not sure it’s really the standard of non-fishing events.
“It was obviously a twistless event, after the whistle.
“I’m sorry for Ben White because he did nothing.
Mauvaka will attend an independent disciplinary hearing via video conference on Thursday.
A three-person team will examine cases related to Law 9.12 (players are not allowed to strike with any part of their arms, shoulders, head or knees).
Referee Matthew Carley referred the incident to review official Ian Tempest to decide whether sanctions should be upgraded to a 20-minute red card, with another player replacing Mauwaka.
