Six Nations: Georgia coach Richard Cockerill wants Wales play-off
Georgia rose to 11th place in the world rugby global rankings – a place above Wales, which fell to its lowest ever after 17 consecutive defeats.
Eastern Europe has won 17 second-stage championships, and Cockler says they need bigger challenges.
The 54-year-old told The The The The 1980s, who said, “We think that while other teams are improving, especially Spain and Romania, we think we may be a little too strong, but it takes a harder level to improve us.” ” BBC Radio Welsh Breakfast program.
“We need to face the challenges, we need to lose the game. We need to lose the game to understand the feeling of playing at the level of six countries, because Italy had this opportunity in the early 2000s.
“We think we have won the right, not been given to that place, and we want to have the opportunity to prove that we have the possibility of regular competition at this level.”
However, Coclear admits playing for the playoff prospects in six countries in the near future.
“I don’t think so. If you’re in six countries, you don’t want to vote for the playoffs because from a rugby point of view, it could be the consequences of you and not in six countries, and from a financial standpoint, it’s going to be very, very difficult.
“We don’t want to have just one position and then we show up and we’re not great enough. We want to have a chance to prove that we can compete, so it’s certainly logical that we have a chance to play the playoffs.
“It’s kind of like Champions Football Club going into the Premier League, isn’t it, you know it’s going to be the richest game in the world rugby game, Georgia vs. Wales in the near future, and seeing who plays the Six Nations in the next game is dangerous now, isn’t it?
“That would be the game people want to watch, the money involved and the material involved in Georgian rugby, and if we were good enough to beat anyone’s minimum level, it would jump us into a completely different field.
“If we lose, then, hey, fair and square, we’ll come back, we regroup, we keep growing, we’re fighting to do that again. I don’t think it’s justified in the world we live in.”
