For Senegalese students, digital freelancing opens opportunities
22 million young people join the workforce every year, and Africa needs to create more jobs. Digital technology is the main asset that enables young professionals to have more job opportunities.
This is why the NTF V Senegal Technical Project organizes hands-on training courses for students at Cheikh Hamidou Kane Digital University. Focusing on digital freelancing and pitching, these courses show students how to better seize digital opportunities and advance their professional development.
Digital entrepreneurship attracts Senegalese youth
The initial plan was to target approximately 50 students, almost that number participated in three training courses in the International Trade Center (ITC) program. For Mayoro Cissé, head of the Department of Development and Cooperation at Cheikh Hamidou Kane Digital University, this enthusiasm shows that students are both interested and ready to become entrepreneurs.
“Our public digital universities offer online training courses throughout the process Senegal. This provides our 75,000 students with flexible learning models that make them easy to acquire knowledge and time to create and perform. ” Cissé said.
“Many of our students are used to working independently from home. As a result, they naturally aspire to become freelancers in order to gain financial independence and develop highly sought-after skills in the job market. “Despite the ideas and initiatives, our young people lack support. Therefore, working with NTF V projects, such as NTF V projects, is highly relevant to maximizing the opportunity for students to successfully pursue their own careers.
From January 15 to 17, students took training courses on freelancing, covering everything from the reality of the business to the marketing tips that attract investors. The courses are held in Sebiktan, Mpur and St. Louis in turn, keeping students away from the capital.
“If we want to turn our young people into job seekers rather than job seekers, it’s important not to limit ourselves to Dhaka. Surrounding partners like NTF V to support the emergence of a new generation of digital entrepreneurs nationwide is in the interests of our university.
