Cole Palmer likely to miss England games with injury – Enzo Maresca

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said Cole Palmer could miss the qualifying match in the England World Cup due to muscle damage.

Palmer was injured in training and was excluded 1-0 defeat at Arsenal on Sunday.

The Blues did not play for the first time since last April, when they were beaten 5-0 by the Gunners.

Maresca believes Palmer is unlikely to join Thomas Tuchel’s England team.

“I think (he would fit in England) is to tell the truth,” Maresca said after the Arsenal failure.

“His injury was yesterday’s meeting. It’s a muscle problem…

“He needs to do a scan and plans to do it on Monday morning.”

In addition to Parker, Chelsea also had no forward Nicholas Jackson and winger Maresca responsible for absenteeism on Sunday.

“It’s a huge difference. The three players who have the biggest players for us (are) Cole Palmer, Nicholas Jackson and Noni McDonk, none of them have a court.”

“Two of them have been around for a long time. It’s normal for us to struggle a little bit offensively.

“I think we are the best offense in the league until today, either second or third. We are doing well with other players, but we can do better with the injured players at this moment.”

Palmer has 20 of Chelsea’s 53 league goals this season (14 goals, 6 assists), but hasn’t scored in the last seven Premier League games – Maresca believes the break may help him rediscover his best.

Maresca added: “We don’t want the player’s injury, but in terms of Cole, it may be good to give him a physical and mental break at the moment.”

England played Albania in the first match of new head coach Tuchel on Friday, who began qualifying for the World Cup in 2026 before playing Latvia at Wembley.
