Six Nations 2025: Where can Welsh rugby go from here?

After England collapsed, interim head coach Matt Sherratt said the Welsh rugby needs to be reset and the basis of the game is changed.

CEO Abi Tierney or Richard Collier-Keywood, president, has not yet made public comments after another disastrous Six-Nation campaign.

Former Welsh captain Sam Warbuton believes that the governing bodies must be more candid and transparent to supporters.

“The main stakeholders in the WRU are fans who have to pay £100 per ticket to be here,” Warburton told the BBC.

“I think they should know. As a company, I think getting a buy from fans and saying ‘Look, it’s our mission, it’s what we want to do, it’s one of our, three, five-year plans, and that’s what we want to achieve. I think people have the right to do that.

“People are losing confidence right now, but if there is radio silence, they will lose faith faster.

“If they just come out and say what the plan is, you want the public to siege.”

Warburton added: “The reason why Welsh rugby survived is that we can fill out 75,000 here (at the Principal Stadium), all of which are filtered to professional teams, into age, into grassroots.

“No international fans and fans come, there aren’t many games in Wales, so you have to keep the fans around.”
