‘We will go down’ – Southampton boss Ivan Juric concedes defeat as Wolves close in on safety

Manager Ivan Juric said Southampton will stand out from the Premier League this season after watching his tortured team lose to 17 Wolves in St Mary’s 17th Wolves.

this 2-1 Failure With nine games left, the Saints were behind Vitor Pereira’s team, with a small difference in goals.

Now, Southampton has lost 24 of 29 games in the semester, just the fourth goal in Britain’s top flight history, 9 consecutive home games in the same season, after Birmingham in 1985-86, Wolves of 2011-12 and Watford in 2021-22.

Data provider Opta also believes Southampton’s fate has been sealed, giving them a 0% chance to avoid an immediate return to the championship.

Juric told the BBC game that he said: “We will go down, but (we want to fall down) more battles, more dignity and more everything.”

“Today is another game (hint) we are not ready to come up with points. There will always be something missing.

“There is a willingness to play well and attack.

If the results are against them, Southampton’s fate could be locked down in early April, which would make them third-placed after Derby County in 2007-08 and Huddersfield Town in 2018-19.

They still need another two points to match the 11 lows in derby history 17 years ago.
