Larne FC: Nathan Rooney favourite to replace Lynch as manager
Nathan Rooney has emerged as the favorite to become the new manager of Irish Premier League side Larne.
The Englishman currently coaches the Gibraltar Bruno Magpies.
Rooney has been identified as Larne’s top target after Tiernan Lynch left to become Derry City manager earlier this week.
The 35-year-old has helped the Magpies improve their fortunes, including qualifying for the European club competition.
Rooney’s team eliminated Derry City 3-2 on aggregate in the first round of UEFA qualifying in July, but lost 8-1 over two legs to Copenhagen in the next round.
Lynch’s tenure at Larne saw Inverman win their first ever League of Ireland title in the form of back-to-back premierships.
He also broke new ground for the League of Ireland side by guiding the East Antrim club to the league stages of Europe’s major competitions.
