Strong results were not achieved.

North London club won only one of four opening matches, sixth in the WSL, and they lost 5-2 in the Champions League before Chelsea’s home defeat, where some fans were seeing his sack by waving the P45 signs.

So on Monday after that game, Eidevall informed the club that he was going to step down.

When asked if the club was surprised, he said: “Yes.”

But it ended up being a quick process, Eidevall explained, and he didn’t tell the club that he wanted to leave the next day, but it was when he left.

He added: “They are making this decision (leave) decision, which is very telling me that if the club is in that decision, it is 100% the right decision.”

“So, it gave me some extra clarity.”

Over time, he reviewed his spell in North London, focusing on the team’s “huge growth” through the stadium.

“My mission – and the club’s mission is to ensure Arsenal has returned to the top of the women’s game,” he said.

“I think you can argue about Arsenal at a lot of levels right now, it’s, to have the UAE as the main home, to have very, very good attendance at home and out, with a lot of facilities and staffing in the team, and a team of better youth and more experienced players.

“That part is really good, I can see the role I play in it.”

On the court, he said, “If you take all the games into consideration, you can say that you can fairly argue that Arsenal was second only to Chelsea during his time as manager.

“When you see the resources – players’ salaries and other costs around the team, Chelsea is by far the largest stock, and they’re the best team, too,” Eidevall said.

“Being higher than (Manchester) cities and Chelsea, this may be a reasonable result from investment information.

“Do I want to win the league? Yes, very, very. Then I’ll be very happy with the results.”
