CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Russia’s spy chief hold phone call, first such contact in more than 2 years
News reports said the heads of U.S. and Russian spy agencies have spoken over the phone and agreed to maintain regular contacts to lower the temperature of U.S.-Russia relations.
Russian state news agency Tass said that during the first contact in more than two years, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and head of Russian foreign intelligence agency SVR spoke by phone on Tuesday.

Ratcliffe and Sergei Naryshkin “agree to regular contacts between their institutions” to promote international stability and security, as well as a decrease in the confrontation between Moscow and Washington, according to Tass. ”
The call is also the first time since President Trump began his second term to end three years Ukrainian War.
It happened on the same day Ukraine supports US proposal A 30-day ceasefire and agreed to immediately negotiate with Russia in Saudi Arabia.
The last reported link between the CIA and SVR heads was in November 2022, when Naryshkin spoke with then-CIA chief mayor William Burns in Ankara, Turkey.
