Tiger Woods has surgery on ruptured Achilles
Tiger Woods had surgery after a fatal weakness during home training.
The 15-time main champion did not bring a time frame to his recovery time, but his participation in the Masters, which will begin on April 10, must be doubtful.
The 49-year-old has been hoping for a comeback in Augusta and has not played in the PGA Tour since July last year.
“When I started to strengthen my training and practice at home, I felt the left follow-up was severe pain, which was considered to be ruptured,” Woods said.
“This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Special Surgery Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair to rupture the ruptured tendon.”
Dr. Stocken said the surgery “was going well” and he expected a full recovery.
Woods has not been on the PGA Tour since opening at Royal Troon last July and has conducted its sixth return process in 10 years in September.
He plans to return in the February Genesis Invitational But exit follow Mother’s deathin the ault.
Woods will Missed the Player Championship TPC Sawgrass started on Thursday.
