PGA Tour and LIV Golf still have ‘hurdles’ in their talks to reunify golf

The PGA Tour said that despite Donald Trump’s intervention “significantly strengthening” the negotiations, “some obstacles” in protracted negotiations with Liv Golf.

Discussions have been ongoing since the PGA Tour and DP World Tour agreed to a shock merger with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) in June 2023.

The two sides met at the White House after the intervention of U.S. President Trump, who is a keen golfer with a commercial interest in the sport.

But PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan can’t provide an answer on when a deal will be concluded before this week’s Player Championship.

“We are doing everything we can to bring the two sides together,” Monaghan said.
