Stuart Pearce: Former England defender feels ‘brilliant’ as he recovers from heart scare
Stuart Pearce said he felt “absolutely brilliant” after recovering from his heart’s fear during the plane’s flight.
The 62-year-old former England International and Nottingham Forest defender was flying from Las Vegas to England when he was ill.
The flight was transferred to St. Johns, Canada, where the emergency landing was made and Pierce was taken to the hospital.

“In my flight with chest pain, the Virgin Atlantic crew was excellent, they took care of me wonderfully and said, ‘Look, we’re not going to take the opportunity to cross the Atlantic Ocean, we’re going to get you off.”
“My heart rate is racing. From the moment I was monitoring on the plane, my static heart rate was over 155 times a minute during the few days in the hospital.
“I have a virus that attaches to my heart and just needs to clean up, restart and complete the process.
“When I get home, I obviously do some medical checks and go see my GP, but I feel great right now.”
Pearce felt chest pain and went home for hours in the flight to watch the rugby league Premier League game between the Wigan Warriors and the Warrington Wolves.
Air Force staff monitored him and contacted doctors on the ground and decided to land the plane in Canada.

Forest posted “Psycho” on X and mentioned his nickname along with the Heart of Love.
Pierce added: “The Forest game against Manchester City is very, very humble and I saw that, the pieces and pieces since then.

Pearce hopes to return to the UK soon and said: “Insurers are just organizing flights at the moment.
“I needed a medical partner, so I was told to come with us, so they were just organizing.
