Paul Hughes: MMA fighter to headline Belfast bill at SSE Arena
Paul Hughes will hold a bill on May 10 at the SSE Arena in Belfast and conduct a special homecoming round.
Belfast will be the first of four cities in 2025 to host the Professional Fighter League European Championship, with the main European rivals all aiming to become PFL European champions.
Although Hughes will not compete in the PFL European Championship, he will be the headlines for the card.
The former Cage Warriors lightweight champion was promoted to lightweight and showed his bloodline last October by beating former lightweight champion AJ McKee.
The 27-year-old Delhi fighter, Usman Nurmagomedov, narrowly lost most decisions last month in Dubai.
This is the second career for Hughes, who called for a rematch after being defeated by the Russians.
His opponent in the battle of Belfast has not been announced yet.
“My career has said that I will be doing major events in the SSE Arena and we have made my dreams a reality,” Hughes said.
“Belfast, I’m going to have a show for my people and I’m going to show you how much your support means to me. It’s time to start working.”
