European Athletics Indoor Championships: GB win mixed 4x400m relay bronze as Femke Bol earns gold for hosts
Great Britain won the 4x400m bronze medal as Femke Bol hosted the Netherlands and hosted the Netherlands for the first gold in the European Track and Field Indoor Championships of Abeldorn.
Dutch star BOL took over fourth place but won the Belgian title in three minutes and 15.63 seconds, cheering loudly in the Omnisport Stadium.
The British Quartet made its debut with Alastair Chalmers, Emily Newnham, Joshua Faulds and Lina Nielsen in a 3:16.49 record.
British Georgia Hunters Bell, Revee Walcott-Nolan and Neil Gourley entered Friday night’s 1500m final on Friday night.
Olympic 1500m bronze medalist Hunter Bell is a favorite of this year’s title, controlling her heat from start to finish and winning 4:11.31.
Hunter Bell told BBC Sport: “The job is done now, I’m ready for tomorrow. I love heating, I’m going to run out of tension and calm my nerves. But you need to make sure you avoid the hassle.”
Walcott-Nolan will join the women’s finals, and she is second in 4:14.38.
Gourley will set his sights on his 2023 silver medal after winning the Heat at 3:40.24 to join world record holder Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
Olympic 5,000m champion Ingebrigtsen won 3:37.49, winning in his third straight 1500m and 3,000m titles, an achievement that would make him equal to the men’s seven European indoor champions.
Elsewhere, Ireland’s Sarah Lavin won the Heat in 7.93 seconds on Friday, thus qualifying for the Women’s 60 million hurdles semifinal.
