Cristian Romero: Tottenham defender named in Argentina squad for World Cup qualifiers

Argentina has appointed Tottenham defender Cristian Romero in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil.

The 26-year-old has not attended since his club Thigh injury On December 8, Chelsea defeated the Premier League 4-3.

The Spurs have carefully managed Romero’s recovery as the injury limits the defender to 12 Premier League games this semester.

He has resumed first-team training, but has not received a competitive reward.

Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli has been appointed in Brazil’s 52-man team.

The 23-year-old striker has not offered a campaign for the Gunners since Newcastle lost the 2-0 EFL Cup semi-final on February 5.

Brazil ranked fifth in the standings, winning five games and losing four of the 12 fixtures.
