Australia 90-4 England: Amy Hardcastle compares tough night to being in washing machine
Amy Hardcastle compared the experience to being in a washing machine. Jodie Cunningham said it was evidence of the work that the British Women’s Rugby League still needed to do.
England’s experience in Las Vegas is hardly more punishing. Australia’s 90-4 loss was the biggest lioness ever suffered – both England and Britain – suffering.
Captain Cunningham and center Hardcastle were interviewed on the court after breaking the results and quickly pointed out the reason: they couldn’t get enough balls, so they ended up spending 70 minutes defending against the best team in the world.
How to use it as a learning experience to avoid repetition is a more difficult question – it is the core of the structure of the women’s rugby league in England.
The efforts of the Stuart Barrow team have never wavered, and even hopes of hope of closing against opponents have been chopped. They won the last game of 17 before this game, which is their ability to keep moving forward.
This itself requires a lot of personality reserves.
“I think what we need to do when we get home,” Hardcastle said. “You can’t take anything away from Giralus.
“They are absolute athletes and what they have to do in Australia, their professionals and the support they have is incredible.
“We’ve lost, but can be here and go and know that in that battle, in that washing machine, it’s worth 70 minutes.”
The size of the failure was obviously injured.
“There is always a positive attitude,” Cunningham said. “Now, it’s hard to focus on them, but I think the heart is there, and the effort is there, and we haven’t given up.
“I think Georgia Roche ended up trying for us what we didn’t give up.
“But I’m proud of these girls. I’m proud of them moving forward and sometimes that’s what you need in international rugby.”
