Super League: Why are Wigan and Warrington playing in Las Vegas?

In Las Vegas, all relevant teams use UFC’s performance academy as a training center.

“UFC is a huge brand in Las Vegas, and it’s home for us,” the senior vice president of UFC Dr Crench Dr French Dr Christer told the BBC.

“When these teams are looking for training spaces and how to prepare for Gameweek – whether it’s recovery, strength and conditioning, film research, dining – we can do it under one roof, so it’s inconspicuous for many of these teams.”

In addition to three domestic fixtures between the NRL and the Premier League, England’s Lioness will face Australia’s Giralus for the first time.

The fixture is designed to help the women’s rugby league grow, but England hopes to be better than the 38-0 hits handed over the last time they met with Australia.

Part of the charm of using UFC facilities is sharing knowledge in sports, which the French say is particularly useful.

He added: “It’s always great to have other sports codes with our athletes so they can see what other people are doing.”

“There is a lot of synergy between the rugby league and fighting, especially the need for the body, and there is a huge psychological component to solve or wrestle.

“These boys and girls are always sharing ideas and how they train. The UFC brand is strong in football and the teams that come in are all UFC fans, so it’s a great week for everyone.”
