Call for entries: The Earthshot Prize 2025 – Seeking groundbreaking solutions to restore our planet
Following this year’s record-breaking nominations and a historic first-ever ceremony on the African continent, the Planet Effort Prize (TEP) has officially opened its doors to the Class of 2025 and MultiChoice (www.Multichoice.com) is honored to once again be TEP’s official African nominee.
TEP seeks innovative solutions across five key Earthshot projects: protecting and restoring nature; cleaning our air; reviving our oceans; building a waste-free world; and repairing our climate.
This year’s nomination cycle saw an unprecedented surge, with more than 2,000 entries received from 139 countries, demonstrating the growing momentum for global environmental innovation.
TEP’s official broadcast partner for Africa, MultiChoice, broadcast the star-studded awards ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa, live to millions of people. The ceremony celebrated several African-led initiatives, including:
- Green African Youth Organization (GAYO) (Ghana): GAYO, a Clean Air Planet Initiative winner, is tackling air pollution through its innovative Zero Waste Model.
- Keep IT Cool (Kenya): Keep IT Cool, a winner of the Earth Initiative for a Waste-Free World, is revolutionizing food preservation for small-scale farmers and fishermen with its sustainable refrigeration system.
These winners, along with all other TEP winners, exemplify the power of local solutions to address global challenges and contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Each winner will receive £1 million to scale their impactful solutions.
TEP invites individuals, communities, businesses and organizations in Africa and beyond to submit their breakthrough ideas and technologies to accelerate the transition to a sustainable future. The award seeks solutions that:
- Influential: Demonstrate a tangible positive impact on the environment.
- Inspiring: Inspire others to take action and join the global movement for change.
- Include: Benefit communities and promote equitable access to resources.
