UK Open: Luke Humphries ends Beau Greaves’ historic run with 10-7 win to reach last 16

Luke Humphries fought back and won 10-7 and ended the Beau Greaves’ historical creation at the British Open.

Earlier last Friday, the No. 1 woman in the world became the first female player to enter the fourth round of the game.

The 21-year-old then led the men’s world No. 7-5, but Humphreys won the final 16 shots in five straight legs.

“She belongs to a big dart,” Humphreys later told ITV4.

“She belongs to this environment. She did test me there and if we were in the Premier League, she would beat me.”

The dominant three-time women’s world champion Greaves opened with a checkout of 126 and then took out 124 to lead 2-0.

But Humphries returned to his way, and after winning, he called back to the stage, and the two bowed in front of the crowd at Butlin’s Minehead Resort.

“To play Luke, he’s great, and for me and me, it’s going to take me a long way,” Greaves said.

“I’ve been watching this kind of player on TV, so I’m so happy to be here. Honestly, I just love watching his throws.”

Jonny Clayton beat Gary Anderson 10-3 earlier on Friday Men’s world champion Luke Littler crosses Peter Wright.

When Wright moved the level at 9-9, junior Littler threw the lead with a 7-4 and 9-7 lead.

Facing a chance to end the victory at 170 checkout, Littler was ridiculed after taking a safety-first approach and shooting into 10 beds.

The 18-year-old shook his finger, “not an opportunity” to the crowd, and then eventually won with an average of 108.69.
