United Rugby Championship: Munster 28-34 Edinburgh – Sean Everitt’s side back in play-off places with Munster win
Matt Currie’s hat-trick helped Edinburgh beat Munster to a 34-28 victory at Musgrave Park.
With the game playing in Cork instead of Tormond Park, Sean Everitt’s team became the first United Rugby Championship (URC) visitor to a less-used Home Win by Munster since 2019.
With the support of the rulers, Edinburgh’s four bonus points ended, despite Munster being late for the gap.
Since confirming Clayton McMillan will be charged next season, the hosts have won two bonuses in Game 1 through a late attempt by Sean O’Brien and subsequent conversions by Billy Burns.
The victory puts Edinburgh sixth in the standings, three points behind Munster.
Floss Thompson took first place in the game after his team received free throws.
Visitors’ dominance in the scene became the theme of the game, but Munster soon took a brief lead.
Brian Gleeson attacked the back row chaos and strongly set off from the base after center Alex Nankivell ended.
But that’s good for Munster.
Edinburgh’s response came after Ben Muncaster and Magnus Bradbury showed good power in the back row, and Thompson was placed on the whitewash for the first attempt on the side.
After another dominant brawl they got a second, with Ben Vellacot in the semifinals kicking to the top with a free throw advantage, and then McCarthy misjudged the bounce, allowing Currie to try it out.
Wings won his second inning soon after, and despite Nankivell’s attention, he tried to put the ball under the ball.
In the final game before the halftime, Edinburgh made a bonus point, and when Currie took another fine, Currie picked a great line from the subsequent queue and uninstalled to send Bradbury under the post.
