Molly Caudery: World Indoor Tour Gold pole vault title for Briton in Madrid
Britain’s Molly Caudery won the entire World Indoor Tour title at the final meeting of the Madrid Series.
She earned the highest points and beat Slovenia’s Tina Sutej to a season-best 48,500 when she reigned at the 24-year-old World Indoor Arctic Championship Championship (Caudery).
Sutej was the only athlete who could clear 4.7 million, but she didn’t respond to Caudery’s first vault for more than 4.75 million.
This means that the English Recording Institute (Gaudery) added her win to Karlsruhe’s victory, finishing second in Lievin, who accumulated 27 points with her best three-game series – Sutej led the way.
She will be one of the hopes of British medals at next week’s European Indoor Track and Field Championships, a year after winning the world’s first major championship at Glasgow Indoor.
The European Indoor Championships will be held from March 6 to 9 in Appeldoon, Netherlands.
He will also be companion to Briton Bianca Williams, who ranked second in Madrid with a personal best time of 7.16 seconds in the Women’s 60m.
The show comes a week after Williams lowered his best man to 7.19 seconds to win the British indoor championship first.
