Land’s End lighthouse fog alarm sounding ‘all day, all night’

People living near Land’s End are advised to buy earplugs as the lighthouse is in a flashing fog alert.
Over the past week, Longships Lighthouse made every 13 seconds of sound.
The head of the National Coast Observation Agency Gwennap said On social media The speaker sounds like “all day, all night” and “a set of earplugs can be a good investment”.
Visitors visiting the location told the BBC it was “the noisiest sunset I’ve seen so far”.

Trinity House, which manages more than 60 beacons in the UK, said there were problems with the long-term “audible danger warning signs” on board.
The company is planning to send technicians to resolve the failure.
The treble electronic beeps are usually only heard in foggy conditions, most obviously at the end of the land, as well as residents across the coast, including Sennen and Cape Cornwall.

A spokesperson said: “Visibility sensors are not functioning properly, which can be a problem.
“Hazard warning signs indicate reduced visibility in the area, such as fog.”
The weather conditions have not fogged this week.
Longships Lighthouse is a 35 million (115-foot) tower built in 1875, about 2 km (1.25 miles) from the end of the land.
It was responsible for the residents’ beacon keepers until 1996.
Since then, it has been monitored and controlled by the Trinity House Program Center in Harrich, Essex.
David Hocking of Land’s End Landmark said the continuous beeping in the area was “a bit” the topic and conversation began.”
