Northern Ireland 3-2 Bosnia-Herzegovina: Tanya Oxtoby praises NI’s ‘resilience’ in late home win
Despite praising Northern Ireland’s character for fighting back and winning, Oxby admitted she was frustrated that she had to do so.
NI wasted many opportunities to increase their lead to the first half and pay less than 60 seconds in the second half.
Emina Ekic started the game from half of her own, unchallenged to go home from the slot machine, and just three minutes later Marija Milinkovic at Rachel Dug Rachel Dugdale’s license fell on the midfielder on the edge of the area and made a 20-yard effort at the post office.
“I’m disappointed that we were even in that position (losing behind), and I think we have total control over the game and we are the architects who fell on our own,” Oxtoby added.
“The goalkeeper did some good savings, but the game should be done in half.
“The players were disappointed, the second was a great strike, no doubt, but both goals were preventable.
“I thought we would get something out of the game, so make these three points happy.”
