Crystal Palace 4-1 Aston Villa: ‘The mood is buzzing, the music is bouncing’
“The mood is buzzing, the music is bouncing, and everyone is happy.”
These are the words of Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah Beating Aston Villa 4-1 Tuesday in Selhurst Park.
After a slow start to the season, Palace turned around and won only one of the first 10 league games and has now suffered only three losses in 15 games.
They are 12th in the Premier League table, but are only eight points from Manchester City in fifth place and have more games.
“We know we can perform well, and that’s what we show today,” said manager Oliver Glasner.
The villa’s thrill feels like a critical moment, and many milestones are for the players in the Crystal Palace roster.
England midfielder Adam Wharton started his first league game since October after his injury, with French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta starting from Arsenal in the summer.
Meanwhile, Senegal striker Ismaila Sarr scored two goals on his 27th birthday.
The Hawks have a chance to reach the FA Cup quarterfinals after defeating London rival Millwall on Saturday.
“I think we’re all rewarded and the players are rewarded for their hard work,” Glasner said.
“We expect this, and I often mention that the start of (the season) will be bumpy. The preseason isn’t going to be in a perfect way, and many players arrive. The most important thing is that we are together and work hard.
“I think now we can see progress and development in individual participants, systems and players know how we have to play and what we have to do.
“One thing is theory, another is turning it into a court, and that’s one thing they’ve done well over the past few weeks and months.”
Glasner was quick to point out that just 10 days ago he sat in the same place, after Everton lost 2-1 at home.
“It’s always doing your football and working in groups and keeping it together,” he said of his goal. “That’s what we’re doing, no matter what the outcome.”
