Lester Holt stepping down as “NBC Nightly News” anchor
Lester Holt, longtime anchor and executive editor of “NBC Night News”, announced on Monday that he will quit broadcasting in early summer broadcasts Network Reports. Holt, 65, has been performing for 10 years.
NBC News didn’t immediately name who will take over the anchor.
Holt also anchored the news magazine show “Dateline” and he will continue to hold the position full-time, the network said.

Holt joined NBC News in 2000 and was appointed host of “Night News” in June 2015 Brian Williams.
The network said Holt has been the main host of “Dateline” since September 2011. Holt worked together for 12 years before taking over the hosting duties of Night News.
“As a 20-year-old policeman chasing news-breaking news around San Francisco, I can never think my career path will develop in the way it is,” he wrote in the memo. “What an amazing journey.”

Holt is also the host of Kids Edition, the latest high-profile TV news figure to quit in recent months.
