Trump names right-wing commentator as deputy FBI director

U.S. President Donald Trump has appointed right-wing commentator Dan Bongino as deputy director of the FBI.

Trump posted on social media that Bongino is “a person who is loving and passionate about our country” and will serve under the leadership of newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel .

Bongino, 50, is a former NYPD and Secret Service and presidential protection for two presidents, George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

He hosted a podcast of the same name, whose Facebook posts are usually more than the sum of Fox News and CNN.

“Thanks to the President, Attorney General Bundy and Director Patel,” Bongino wrote on X after Trump’s announcement.

In a social media announcement on Sunday, Trump said Bongino was willing to “will and be prepared to give up “podcasts” to “serve.”

“Fairness, justice, law and order will be brought back to the United States and quickly,” Trump added.

He said Bongino would do an “incredible job” with the FBI.

Bongino, who has run for Congress three times, hosted the president by his daily podcast, the Dan Bongino Show, before last year’s general election.

His episodes of last week’s show include “Trump keeps delivering and libs boiling” and “The only person who loves crime is a criminal!!!”

“My life is to have Libs now,” Bongino said in 2018 of his career as a prolific conservative political commentator.

Bongino’s new FBI boss Patel was nearly confirmed by the Senate last week that he had been attacked for a long time.

Democrats warned that he would seek retribution for Trump’s enemies, although the former prosecutor denied any plans to pursue political vendetta and had promised to “rebuild” the agency.
