Lauren Bell and Matthew Richardson complete sprint hat-trick at British Championships
Lauren Bell and Matthew Richardson completed a Sprint medal on the final day of the British Race Track Bike Championship in Manchester.
The bells of Scotland won the women’s individual sprint, along with her team Sprint and Keirin’s victory, while England’s Richardson won the men’s Keirin title Complete Men’s Sprint Set.
“Nationals are always a great event – there are always sold out crowds. It’s great to have my family cheering me in the crowd.
“I know my legs are in. I already have the speed and now I’ve started to develop tactics. I’m trying to play in every game and that’s the result.”
Richardson made his debut at the event, turning to the UK after collecting two silver and bronze medals for Australia at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
“I set this as one of my goals,” he said. “I know I have the ability, but doing this, saying that these are two completely different things, so I’m really relieved and happy that I can go There to achieve your goals.”
Katie Archibald won the women’s points competition for the first time in six years.
The two-time Olympic champions scored the highest score from five of eight sprints and scored 47 points on the field, with Danielle Watkinson and Cat Ferguson respectively Silver and bronze medals.
“I’m very happy with the good implementation of the plan. The fact that I’ve been away for a long time makes me very motivated with the people,” Archibald said.
“I’m the one people want to beat, but it’s still a pleasure to be surrounded and surfaced.”
Elsewhere, Noah Hobbs won the men’s scratch match before defending champions Sam Fisher and William Gilbank.
During the racing event, Samuel Davies, Rebecca Newark and Jacob Smith won gold medals in the mixed team C Sprint, and Sophie Unwin, Jenny Holl, James Ball and Steffan Lloyd won the Mixed Team B Sprint final.
