Mystery of body in a wetsuit puzzles police
BBC News

Detectives start working when a Walker calls 999 and says he sees a body in a wetsuit in a remote reservoir.
The search team hiked the barren swamps near where he was found, while a helicopter and drone searched for any clues about how and why he got there.
Investigators have asked the British police force to check their register of missing persons and have spoken with Interpol as the area may be welcomed by tourists.
Despite forensic testing, extensive inquiries, searches and appeals for information, the detective has not solved the man’s secret in the wetsuit.
He found him one Friday morning in October last year in 08:30 in the countryside of CRRC, which was still rolling.
Investigators suspect he may have been in the vast Craven Reservoir for up to 12 weeks – so it may be in the water since July and the high season of summer.
Police know about “unusual” deaths
What police say about the person in the suit is “very unusual” is that no evidence of his personal belongings or an abandoned car or bicycle was found.
However, with no clothes or vehicles found and the nearest bus stop walking for about four hours, police did think he was unlikely to wear a wetsuit.
When first responders recovered, it was highly decomposed and taken to a nearby morgue for examination. Fingerprint and DNA tests failed to find any matches.

All police officers knew he was a white man, between the ages of 30 and 60, and was wearing a zone 3 agile suit.
Because the size of the £200 wetsuit is large, officials expect the man to be 6 feet to 6 feet (1.83 to 1.96m), 14 to 15 stones (89-95 kg) tall and 44-48 inches on his chest.
What is the place where you discover your body?
It was a huge February when we drove along the monorail to the top of the magnificent 183-foot (56m) dam of the reservoir.
The mist covered the surrounding Powys landscape, with no signs of birds or other life, except for a few sheep spread over the naked hills of the remote farm above.
As we visited, a few tourists arrived and their cars took a walk along the dam. We didn’t see a walker or a cyclist.

Even at the peak of summer, when police thought the man in the wetsuit might have passed away, locals said the special reservoir had few visitors and were far apart.
The nearby town of Rhayader is a bicycle and walking hub and a popular pause for people traveling between North Wales.
Chairman Alan Austin, who is a local group of unrealistic groups and regularly walks through the area, said he “never” saw anyone swimming in the water of the Craven Reservoir.
“It can be very dangerous,” he said.
“When it rains, the water from the water becomes very cold and the water from the reservoir is poured onto the dam.”
Other residents asked someone how there was no obvious way of transport to get there and why his property was not found on shore.

Rosemary Stow, who runs Craft Gallery Quillies, says most visitors won’t surpass the visitor center in the nearby Elland Valley.
“You can’t see a lot of cars in the Clairewin Dam or the parking lot below, it’s a lonely place,” she said.
“The people here are asking, has he been abandoned? But if he is abandoned, why put him in a wetsuit?”
What did the police think a man was in a wetsuit?
The police’s work assumption is someone who “voluntarily enters the water” sometime in the summer.
“It’s not a known swimming area, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.”
Her team has maintained an “open mind” about what might have happened, but police can only base themselves on “known information.”

In July and August, the water temperature may be 10C (50F) on the surface, but it may become colder due to the depth of the reservoir.
Water below 16C (61F) is considered a danger of cold water shock and warning against swimming or other water-based activities along the coast.
The Craven Reservoir is the largest and most remote reservoir in the Powys Elland Valley Dam – all five help provide drinking water for Birmingham.

These dams are no strangers to deaths – 55 people died in inland waters across Wales, so the local fire department had a boat.
The police have Seek help from the publicbut their tips don’t give any new clues.
“It’s unusual to be three to four months away,” DET Inspting added.
“In my experience, after this period, we have not identified the case of that person or a loved one.

“It is not considered any criminal activity at the moment. We are always open.
“The most important thing for this person is to know who they are and to determine how they died and provide that information to their loved ones.
“If anyone who hasn’t contacted us before thinks they might know who this man is or has a concern for someone who thinks they can be this person, please Contact Us. ”
