Craig Bellamy: ‘I’m not a lunatic’ says Wales boss after Nations League win
The former Wales captain added: “But you (the media) are worried, you’re thinking: ‘I wonder what he’s going to be like?’ I understand that too.
“When things go wrong, you’ll see me being calmer and nicer. Now is the worst time you can put me in because my emotions are all over the place. Trust me, you’re not going to get anywhere that way.
“I’m not naive enough to know that those moments aren’t going to come. I don’t know when, but it’s going to happen. I feel like some people are waiting for it to happen. I know that and I have to stay calm about it.”
Bellamy was booked in Wales’ win over Iceland but, apart from showing enthusiasm on the touchline, showed no sign of the red mist that has descended on him more than once during his eventful career.
The 45-year-old appeared calm when speaking to the media, giving long and detailed answers as he shared his thoughts on the game.
This calm approach has helped him get off to a strong start during his tenure in Wales, with three wins and three draws leading his side to the top of Nations League Group B4 and securing promotion to the top flight.
Bellamy also instilled an exciting new style of play – bold and creative in possession, tenacious and relentless in possession.
