Throughout the fight week, Adames was in a mood to describe the British as a hype and question the quality of his former opponents while not being influenced by Jeers who greeted him.
The two sized each other in the first round, the champion crouched, bent and knitted around the ring, aiming at the 6-foot-3-inch Sheeraz’s body.
“Baby, you’re going to be a world champion tonight,” trainer Ricky Funez told Sheeraz early.
The Londoner – who trained in Los Angeles – raised the pace in his fourth rhythm, when he doubled the piston-like jab and then shot and chopped it with his body.
But Adames chased Sheeraz, shot down clean shots to win sixth, and then won the Challenger victory on the eighth time with the thunderous running hand-to-hand connection.
Promoter Frank Warren walked to Sheeraz’s corner at the end of the ninth round and shouted at his warriors to throw the hit rate.
His character’s best shot until 11th and his corner was in the final round, and didn’t land until November 11, he said: “You have to knock him down to win.”
However, it was Adames who ended the fight and hoped to defend his championship by showing confidence.
While waiting for the controversial scorecard, Sheeraz appears to gesture to his promoter Warren that there is something wrong with his hand.
Earlier this week, Sheeraz talked about his dream to be a world champion of triple weights and welcomed next year’s match against Saul’Canelo’Alvarez.
At present, these ambitions seem to be out of reach.
