iPhone 16E: All the Features You Don’t Get for $599
Apple’s iPhone 16e Now available pre orderstarting at $599. The new phone launches Friday, February 28, and perhaps its biggest selling point is the starting price below $600, which makes it $200 less than $200 iPhone 16. The iPhone 16e has the best features for many more expensive devices, such as the A18 chip, a 48-megapixel main camera, iOS 18,,,,, Apple Smart and access FaceTime, Imagessage and Emergency SOS via satellite.
What else do you want, right?
Well, like other affordable calls, the compromise price is reduced. These omissions tell you a lot about Apple’s values – such as Apple Intelligence. I’ve reviewed the budget phones for more budgets, and the best phones always offer much more than just their low price tags. It’s a surprise when companies like Motorola, OnePlus, or Google determine the balance between what to keep and what to ignore. So how about Apple?
I’ll save my ideas until I can test and view the iPhone 16e. But now, let’s take a look at the features you don’t get iPhone 16e.
Watch the following: iPhone 16e is here
magsafe and Qi2
Magsafe has become a popular aspect of becoming an iPhone owner, and the iPhone 16e is crazy without it. MagSafe debuted on the iPhone 12 in 2020 and uses magnets inside the phone to charge wirelessly by ensuring it is in the best position. Magnets have the added benefit because they allow you to connect magnetic accessories to your iPhone (such as a wallet or battery pack) and secure your phone to a mount, such as the iPhone in a car.
The iPhone 16’s MagSafe supports 25-watt wireless charging speeds. But the iPhone 16E only supports 7.5W wireless charging, which is the original QI standard – even the QI2 is not 15W.
Speeding, macro camera
The iPhone 16e has rarity in 2025: a rear camera. But, as I said before, in other stories and comments, I would rather have a really good camera than two or three mediocre ones that I often find on phones under $300. The main camera of 16e has a 48-megapixel sensor with sufficient resolution Sensor Cropping Offers 2x magnification – Not exactly the same as those with a second camera, but off.
Sensor cropping doesn’t replace a dedicated super camera, which doubles as a macro camera on the iPhone 16, allowing you to focus on close-up subjects, such as food photos.
3 grams
The iPhone 16e weighs 167 grams, making it 3 grams lighter than the 170 grams of iPhone 16. Hey, not all the omissions are bad.
Dynamic Island
The iPhone 16e has a screen notch.
The iPhone 16e brings back the screen port, which is the cutout at the top of the screen that accommodates the phone’s selfie camera and FaceID technology. But it lacks Dynamic Island The cutout is a smaller oval hole on the top of the display on the iPhone 16. Apple uses screen space around the dynamic island cutout to display system alerts as well as background tasks, such as when music is played. Apparently, the lack of dynamic islands of 16e does not prevent it from displaying alerts, but it still misses the clever software interface.
Qualcomm 5G modem and mmwave
The C1 modem is Apple’s first internal 5G modem.
Apple proudly notes in its launch video that the iPhone 16E has an in-house designed 5G modem called the C1. The new Apple modem abandons the Qualcomm 5G modem used in other iPhone models. Design your own modem so that Apple can tailor the device for your phone. The new modem helps extend the battery life of the iPhone 16e, which Apple says is longer than other iPhone 16 models.
But the C1 modem has a wrinkle: it doesn’t support 5G mmwave (or ultra-wideband), which is the very fast smell of 5G that you might be attending events in some cities or stadiums.
Color options
The iPhone 16E is available in black or white.
When the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus were launched, one of the best aspects was that they appeared in colors like Ultramarine, Teal, and Pink. The iPhone 16e is only black or white.
Five GPU cores
One of the biggest features of the iPhone 16E is that, like the iPhone 16, it has an A18 chip and can run Apple Intelligence. But the chips are not exactly the same. The iPhone 16’s A18 chip has five GPU cores, while the 16E has only four. So, what exactly does this mean? Well, the good news is that the difference may not have a significant impact on the day-to-day use of the iPhone 16e. However, if you’re the one who plays graphics-intensive games for hours on end, the iPhone 16 may have a slight advantage.
Camera control buttons
This is the pop-up menu (top right corner) that appears when you use the camera control button on your iPhone 16.
Apple’s omission of camera control buttons also triggered a visual intelligence search, which makes sense, since the 16e has only one camera. Those who may use the camera control buttons may get the iPhone 16 or 16 Pro because these models have more cameras. Apple also cleverly enabled the 16e action button to start visual intelligent search.
Ultra-wideband, Wi-Fi 7 and threading
The iPhone 16e lacks Apple’s ultra-wideband chip, which means you won’t be able to use the precise tracking feature in Find My for Airtags. The phone supports Wi-Fi 6, but does not support the newer 6E or 7 standards. Wi-Fi 6 is good, but with more Wi-Fi 7 routers coming, the 16E will not be able to take advantage of faster peak speeds. The 16E also lacks support for threaded radios and will not be able to directly connect some smart home devices with built-in wire border routers.
Action, movie and space video modes
The iPhone 16e camera app does not have:
- Move the action mode of stabilizing video recording with a large number of cameras
- Movie mode for recording videos
- Spatial mode for recording “3D” video of Visual Pro, which requires two cameras
Other odds and endings
The iPhone 16e has a photography style, but does not have the new photography style that debuted on the iPhone 16 series. The 16e can take photos in portrait mode, but after the fact on the iPhone 16, it lacks the ability to change focus. The 16e’s display is covered with a ceramic shield, but is not an updated, more durable version on the iPhone 16.
Although this missed list is long, that doesn’t mean that the iPhone 16e is a bad phone. I look forward to my hands and testing them as soon as possible.
